BCM Methodology

BCM is the preparedness of an organization to ensure continuity, resumption and recovery of critical business processes at an agreed level and limit the impact of the disaster on People, Processes and Infrastructure.

BCP, therefore, is not merely making arrangements for recovery of IT infrastructure, but a comprehensive plan that includes people, processes and non-IT infrastructure such as workspace as well.

Project Management
Define and organize the project planning parameters and indentify the resources needed to develop the plan
 
Risk Analysis
To identify the threats that the organization is exposed to, and the risks such threats can cause; and the controls needed to prevent or minimize the effects of potential loss.
 
Business Impact Analysis
Identify the quantitative and qualitative impacts resulting from threats and risks (identified from Risk Analysis) that can affect the organization. Establish critical functions, their recovery priorities, and interdependencies so that recovery time objective can be set.
 
Recovery Strategy Development
Determine and guide the selection of alternative business recovery operating strategies for recovery of business and information technologies within the recovery time objective, while maintaining the organization’s Critical Functions (CBF’s ; identified from BIA) .
 
Plan Development
Design, develop, and implement the Business Continuity Plan that provides recovery within the recovery time objective.
  Awareness & Training
      Ensure that all staff members involved in the recovery process, understand the recovery plan
       
  Testing & Exercising
      Pre-plan and coordinate plan exercises, and evaluate and document plan exercise results. Verify that the Plan will prove effective by comparison with a suitable standard, and report results in a clear and concise manner.
 
Program Management
Update the plan constantly to reflect changed conditions in the business. To review and audit the readiness and completeness of the plan
