Testing has always been more an art than a science. With modern advances in software tools and techniques it has moved towards being a detailed, well structured and scientific discipline in the software development life cycle.
Most successful test projects, however, are a unique mix of art and science.
At Omnitech the art comes from the artisans themselves – the Test Teams, while the science is based on a matured and evolved test execution model that we have managed to master over the years. Our test methodology focuses on test strategy, test planning, test designing, etc. while also placing great emphasis on Test Effort Estimation (TEE) and Test Result Analysis (TRA).
The focus on TEE enables us to scientifically identify and manage the scope of the testing activity thereby minimizing effort and cost variance. Omnitech’s TEE is based on a combination of FPA & ObjectMetrix (an UML based approach).
The focus on TRA enables us to not just generate test defects and reports but also execute a details analysis of these reports which can help not just in defect identification but go further into defect resolution.
The Omnitech test model, over time has empirically formed a technique which incorporates the best of methodologies, the globally popular and standardized Rational Unified Process (RUP), TMap, and the V-Model to execute its testing activities.
RUP adheres to IEEE, ISO & SEI CMM Standards in its processes. This enables Omnitech to execute the testing process in a globally standard manner. |
